September 10, 2012: "Dark Knight" Star Talks Possible Role in "Justice League" Film

At the recent Toronto International Film Festival, actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt took time out of promoting his upcoming sci-fi thriller, "Looper" to talk with MTV about his role as John Blake (aka, Robin) in "The Dark Knight Rises" and the possibility of his character continuing on in Warner Bros. planned "Justice League" movie. Here's an excerpt from the article:

It's unclear at the moment how WB plans to connect their superhero team-up (rumored to hit theaters in 2015, the same year as Marvel and Joss Whedon's "Avengers" sequel) to the "Dark Knight" trilogy, if at all. But for the sake of argument, let's say Gordon-Levitt was approached to be a part of "Justice League" — would he even be interested in signing on?

"It always depends," he told MTV News at the Toronto International Film Festival, where he was busy promoting "Looper," his upcoming sci-fi thriller from "Brick" director Rian Johnson. "I always pick projects that I want to be involved in for the same reasons. Is the script really good? Is the filmmaker a really inspired artist that I feel connected to? That's what I always pay attention to."

Recent rumors have linked such directors as Ben Affleck (who has denied any involvement), the Wachowski siblings, Brett Ratner and McG to the "Justice League" film but, thus far, Warner Bros. has not released any further official statements in regard to the project.

A script for the film is currently being written by "Gangster Squad" scribe, Will Beale with an anticipated release date in 2014 or 2015.
