August 14, 2013: Bryan Cranston Expresses Interest in Lex Luthor Role

Hot on the heels of the recent rumors that he was in contention for the role of Lex Luthor, actor Bryan Cranston has expressed his interest in portraying the iconic character in the "Man of Steel" sequel.

When speaking with Digital Spy, the "Breaking Bad" actor stated, "Give me a call. I like Lex Luthor. I think he's misunderstood. He's a loveable, sweet man."

Also supposedly to be in contention for the role of Lex Luthor in the the 2015 sequel is actor Mark Strong ("Sherlock Holmes", "Green Lantern") who, when asked in an interview with Digital Spy about the rumor, simply stated, "All I can say is, watch this space."

Warner Bros. has yet to release any official word on the casting of Lex Luthor in the "Man of Steel" sequel and any news at this point should be treated as strictly rumor.

As for the highly sought after role of Batman, rumors indicate that such actors as Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin, Matthew Goode, Richard Armitage, Max Martini, and Joe Manganiello are in contention to play the Dark Knight opposite Superman who will once again be portrayed by actor Henry Cavill.

The sequel is tentatively titled "Superman vs. Batman" or "Batman vs. Superman" and is scheduled to hit theaters in Summer, 2015.
