July 28, 2011: "Man of Steel" Crew to Descend on Downtown Chicago, IL

NBCChicago.com reports that the "Man of Steel" production crew will be filming building exteriors in downtown Chicago between August 7th and 17th, weather permitting.

According to the article, even though some later filming will take place in Vancouver, Warner Bros. is insisting Chicago will be featured prominently in director Zack Snyder's reboot of the Superman franchise.

"Why would they bother going to Chicago if they're not going to use Chicago," stated one studio spokesperson.

Whether or not any of the stars of "Man of Steel" such as Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, or Russell Crowe will be participating in the Chicago shoot remains to be seen.

In related news, ChicagoBusiness.com reports that staging is currently taking place around the IHOP restaurant in Aurora, IL.

The article states that, according to sources, pre-production staging started Wednesday at the restaurant with filming set to begin on Monday. Some scenes are also planned to be shot at an industrial park next to DuPage County Airport.

Filming is also scheduled to start in nearby Plano, IL next week which will double as Clark Kent's hometown of Smallville, KS in the movie.

Warner Bros. has announced that "Man of Steel" will fly into theaters on Friday, June 14, 2013.
