April 18, 2013: Happy 75th Birthday Superman!

by Neil A. Cole

75 years ago today, Superman made his official debut in Action Comics #1.

Following years of rejection from multiple publishers, Superman co-creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster finally got to see their creation come to life within the pages of the very first issue of Action Comics.

Since that time, Superman has appeared in various forms of media including radio, television, movies and even a Broadway musical.

Throughout the years, Superman has faced many obstacles including battling alongside US troops during World War II, dieing at the hands of the creature known as Doomsday, and even becoming a being of pure energy in the 1990's.

However, during his 75 year timespan, Superman has become an iconic character recognized the world over as standing for "Truth, Justice, and the American Way."

As we now eagerly await Superman's return to the silver screen in "Man of Steel", the Superman Super Site would like to join fans worldwide in wishing the iconic superhero a very happy 75th birthday as we all look forward to what the next 75 years will bring.
