April 9, 2012: Laura Vandervoort Attending Dallas Comic-Con

Smallville alumni actress Laura Vandervoort will be among the line-up of celebrity guests to appear at the 2012 Dallas Comic-Con taking place in Irving, TX.

Vandervoort is best known for her portrayal of Kara Kent/Supergirl on the popular CW Network series, "Smallville".

A self-described tomboy, Vandervoort was involved in several sports (Soccer, Karate, Basketball, Tennis, Gymnastics, Baseball…etc.) Entering karate at age 7 she found herself with a second degree Black Belt at age 16.

She began acting at the age of 13 and had always been an entertainer, putting on shows for family and friends, however what triggered her interest in the arts was a film called "My Girl". She received the movie from her aunt at a very young age and after watching realized that acting was what was inside her.

After taking several classes and doing background work on Canadian shows such as “Road to Avonlea” and “Harriet the Spy” she got her first speaking role in Canadian children's series "Goosebumps" (3 Episodes) and "Are You Afraid of the Dark?"

Following the CW and "Smallville", Vandervoort then shot the sequel to the feature film "Into the Blue" titled "Into the Blue 2: The Reef" and also starred in the ABC series "V", a reboot of the 1980s science fiction franchise of the same name, in which she portrayed "Lisa," an extraterrestrial visitor.

Other celebrities scheduled to appear alongside Vandervoort include Adam West ("Batman" TV Series, "Family Guy"), Patrick Stewart ("Star Trek: The Next Generation", "X-Men" Trilogy), Val Kilmer ("Batman Forever", "The Saint") and Kristanna Loken ("Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines", "Mortal Kombat: Conquest").
