March 31, 2012: "Superman: IV" Costume Fetches $35,200 at Auction

A Superman costume worn by Christopher Reeve in "Superman: IV - The Quest for Peace" has sold at auction for $35,200.

Reeve wore the costume in his last theatrical portrayal as the Man of Steel in which he must battle his archnemesis, Lex Luthor portrayed once again by veteran actor Gene Hackman as well as a new adversary in the form of Nuclear Man portrayed by newcomer Mark Pillow.

The Hollywood Museum Collection auction took place this weekend at Julien's Auctions in Beverly Hills, CA and featured an exclusive selection of memorabilia and effects from some of Hollywood's most legendary stars.

In addition to the Christopher Reeve Superman costume, other Superhero memorabilia up for auction included a complete Batman costume on a custom display from "Batman Returns" (selling for $67,650) and a Turbo Man costume from the Arnold Schwarzenegger holiday film "Jingle All The Way" (selling for $1,500).
