The Hollywood Reporter has stated in a recent article that actor Viggo Mortensen may be up for the role of General Zod in Zack Snyder's Superman reboot.

According to the report, sources claim that Mortensen is said to be at the top of the list to play Zod who was previously portrayed by actor Terrence Stamp in "Superman II."

The article goes on to state that while Warner Bros. has not yet had any official talks with Mortensen, he is a "person of interest" much like Kevin Costner is for the role of Jonathan Kent.

Mortensen is currently in negotiations to star in Universal's "Snow White and the Huntsman" with Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron, but if negotioations should stall, he could be cast in the role of Zod.

No one from Warner Bros. or the Snyder camp has commented on this latest story. For now, please take this news as strictly a rumor.
