January 30, 2012: CONFIRMED: Robert Gerdisch IS Young Whitney Fordham in "Man of Steel"

The Superman Super Site has received confirmation from the Chicago based talent agency representing Robert Gerdisch that the actor will star in the role of Whitney Fordham in Zack Snyder's Superman reboot, "Man of Steel".

His agent remained tight-lipped on any details concerning his character's role in the film so it remains to be seen if this Whitney, as opposed to the Whitney Fordman character from the Smallville tv series, will indeed be portrayed as Lana Lang's boyfriend.

Prior to being confirmed, the casting was initially posted on IMDB.com.

The fourteen-year-old Gerdisch has previously starred in such films as "The Poker House", "Children of the Corn" (2009 TV remake), and "Chicago Overcoat" alongside actors Armand Assante and Stacy Keach.

Gerdisch's casting makes him the third young actor in the past week to be confirmed for "Man of Steel" following the casting announcements of actress Jadin Gould as a young Lana Lang (age 13) and actor Dylan Sprayberry as a young Clark Kent (age 13).

We are still awaiting confirmation from actor Jack Foley's agent in regard to his casting as a young Pete Ross (age 13) in "Man of Steel".

"Man of Steel" stars Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Ayelet Zurer as Lara Lor-Van, Kevin Costner as Jonathon 'Pa' Kent, Diane Lane as Martha 'Ma' Kent, Michael Shannon as Zod, Antje Traue as Faora, Christopher Meloni as Colonel Hardy, Harry Lennix as General Swanwick, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Richard Schiff as Dr. Emil Hamilton, Dylan Sprayberry as Clark Kent (Age 13) and Jadin Gould as Lana Lang (age 13).

Superman is scheduled to make his return to the silver screen on Friday, June 14, 2013.
