Rumors recently hit the internet that Nightwing (aka, Dick Grayson) will appear in the 2015 follow-up to "Man of Steel" and that actor Adam Driver ("Girls", "Lincoln") was up for the role.
However, after speaking with Driver who is currently promoting the Coen brothers' new film "Inside Llewyn Davis", the Hufington Post has learned that this casting rumor is completely untrue.
Here's an excerpt of what Driver had to say:
Huffington Post: I wish the Nightwing rumor was true.
Driver: Oh, no, it isn't.Huffington Post: Well, I still wish it was true.
Driver: [Laughs] Well, thanks. No, not as far as I know.Huffington Post: How does that get started? There's no truth at all to it?
Driver: No, there's no truth to it. I don't know whoever put it on there. I don't know how these things get [started] -- I don't know how it first came about.Actors Penn Badgley ("Gossip Girls") and Ezra Miller ("We Need to Talk About Kevin") are still supposedly up for the Nightwing role even though there has been no confirmation that the character will even be featured in the film.
The yet-to-be-titled follow-up to "Man of Steel" will hit theaters on July 17, 2015 and will feature Affleck's debut as Batman/Bruce Wayne alongside returning stars Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Diane Lane as Martha 'Ma' Kent, and Laurence Fishburne as Perry White.
