Actor Jackie Earl Haley has reportedly auditioned for an unknown role in director Zack Snyder's 2015 follow-up to the blockbuster film, "Man of Steel".

According to a Twitter post from Latino Review reporter El Mayimbe who is about 50/50 when it comes to scoops such as this, Haley recently went in to audition for the film but was ultimately turned down:

TWITTER SCOOP! JACKIE EARLE HALEY auditioned for a role in BATMAN VS SUPERMAN but they passed on him. Gee, I wonder what he went in for? RT

Haley, who previously worked with Snyder on "Watchmen" in which he played the character of Rorschach, could possibly have been auditioning for the role of Lex Luthor who has been revealed to be in the next chapter of the "Man of Steel" storyline.

Although he will not be playing Lex, Haley has had prior experience portraying an iconic, villianous role in the form of Freddy Krueger in the 2010 reboot of "A Nightmare on Elm Street"

The yet-to-be-titled follow-up to "Man of Steel" will hit theaters on July 17, 2015 and will feature Ben Affleck's debut as Batman/Bruce Wayne alongside returning stars Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Diane Lane as Martha 'Ma' Kent, and Laurence Fishburne as Perry White.
