October 2, 2015: Rare Superman Items Fetch Record Amounts at Auction

An original Superman costume worn by the late George Reeves during the second season of "The Adventures of Superman" has sold for a record amount at auction.

The rare and vintage costume fetched $230,400 during the second day of the "Hollywood Auction 74" by Profiles in History. The costume, which included a "Flying Pan" used for flying sequences during the show, was expected to sell for between $100,000 - $150,000 (USD).

Another vintage Superman item which sold was a First Edition of "The Adventures of Superman" novel by George Lowther. It managed to fetch a final bid of $800.

One item tied to the Man of Steel that did not fare so well during the auction was a Superman costume from the 2006 film "Superman Returns" worn by actor Brandon Routh. Even though the costume came complete with the boots and a cape, it did not receive any bids at all and was expected to sell for $15,000 - $20,000 (USD).

The third and final day of the "Hollywood Auction 74" is currently under way.
