Entertainment Weekly has learned that Warner Bros. Televison has received a commitment from CBS to air the studio's Supergirl series.
Based on the DC Comics character, the drama tells the story of Kara Zor-El, who was born on the planet Krypton, but escaped amid its destruction years ago. Since arriving on Earth, she’s been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin Superman. But now, at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.
Arrow and Flash executive producer Greg Berlanti and New Normal’s Ali Adler will write and executive-produce with Sarah Schechter.
The Supergirl drama is the latest in an extensive line-up of DC Comics inspired tv series which are set to premiere in the coming weeks and months.
FOX will premiere "Gotham" on September 22nd followed by the CW Network series premiere of "The Flash" on October 7th and season three of "Arrow" on October 8th. "Constantine", which is based on the characters appearing in the DC Comics series 'Hellblazer', debuts on NBC on October 24th.
