September 17, 2014: "Super Friends" Voice Actor Buster Jones Passes Away

Voice actor Buster Jones who provided the voice of Black Vulcan on the classic "Super Friends" cartoons in the early 1980's has passed away at the age of 71.

In addition to the Super Friends, Jones also had roles in such '80s & '90s cartoons as "The Transformers", "G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero", "The Real Ghostbusters", "Captain Planet & the Planeteers" and "The New Batman Adventures."

Jones was born in Paris, Tennessee in 1943. He attended Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee, where he played in a band and got a job as a disc jockey. During his career as a DJ he worked in Washington, D.C. and in Los Angeles. He also did voice work in commercials, which led to his career as a voice actor.

Outside of voice acting, Jones appeared as the host of "Soul Unlimited" which was Dick Clark's short-lived all-black version of "American Bandstand" that Clark had created as an answer to "Soul Train."
