DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns has revealed that SYFY's upcoming series "Krypton" will feature appearances by Doomsday and Brainiac.
During the recent "Krypton" panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Johns told those in attendance that the two iconic DC Comics villains will be involved in a present-day conspiracy to prevent the birth of Superman with Brainiac being one of the show's primary antagonists.
The character made his first appearance in Action Comics #242 in 1958 and it remains to be seen which version of the villain will be featured on the series.
This will certainly not be the first time that Brainiac and Doomsday have been featured in live-action appearances with both characters having been depicted on "Smallville" starring actors James Marsters and Sam Witwer in the respective roles.
Doomsday was also featured and the primary villain in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" where he was portrayed as a mutated clone of General Zod.
Johns also went on to state that several other well-known DC characters will appear in the series including Adam Strange, Hawkwoman, and the alien planet Black Mercy. The news certainly comes as a surprise as many expected the show to focus all-new original characters, especially considering that the series takes place decades before the birth of Kal-El.
"Krypton" was developed by David S. Goyer and Damian Kindler and is scheduled to premiere on SYFY in early 2018.
