July 16, 2014: First Look at "Justice League: Throne of Atlantis"

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment via TV Guide have revealed the first image from "Justice League: Throne of Atlantis", the upcoming installment from the DC Animated Universe Original Movies series.
The image features a first look at Aquaman (pictured below) who takes center stage in the new animated movie which adapts the 2013 "Throne of Atlantis" comic arc that pits the undersea nation of Atlantis against the surface world. However, unlike the comic, the movie will also focus on how young Arthur Curry learns of his aquatic heritage.
"We meet him at a low point in his life," says supervising producer James Tucker in an interview with TV Guide. "He's a little bit lost. His father has died and he's always been an outsider, so the one person who had his back is now gone. When that Atlanteans instigate incidents to escalate a war with the surface world, he doesn't yet know who he is. As he discovers his true history he's going to have a lot of choices to make. It's definitely about him finding his own path."
The film will feature actor Matt Lanter ("90210", "Star-Crossed") in the lead role as Aquaman and will pick up from the storyline established in the February, 2014 animated film "Justice League: War".
Other cast members include Jerry O'Connell as Superman, Jason O'Mara as Batman, Rosario Dawson as Wonder Woman, Shemar Moore as Cyborg, Christopher Gorham as The Flash, Sean Astin as Shazam, and Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern.
Veteran actor and former "Smallville" star Sam Witwer will star as Aquaman's devious brother Orm while actress Sumalee Montano (Katana - "Beware the Batman") will voice Mera, Aquaman's future queen.
"Justice League: Throne of Atlantis" is scheduled to be released by WHV in early 2015 on DVD, Blu-ray and for digital download and on demand.
