May 18, 2016: Warner Bros. Implements Changes to DC Movie Operations

by Neil Cole

Warner Bros. has announced changes to the executive branch of their DC Entertainment division following the less-than-stellar critical & financial response to "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice".

Warner Bros. Executive VP Jon Berg and DC's Chief Operating Officer Geoff Johns will now have complete oversight of all future DC Comics based films through the studio's recently created DC Films division.

Berg has served as Senior Vice President of the studio since 2008 and has previously produced such films as "American Pie", "Elf", "The Bourne Identity" franchise, and "Edge of Tomorrow".

Johns, meanwhile, has been a creative juggernaut on DC's highly successful television properties including "Arrow", "The Flash", and "Supergirl". He was also assigned the task of writing this month's "Rebirth" storyline which will drastically change the landscape of the DC Comics superhero universe.

The executive changes come as Warner Bros. prepares to release an impressive amount of DC Comics based films through 2020 including next months "Suicide Squad" which will be followed by "Wonder Woman" and "Justice League: Part One" in 2017.

Other properties include a standalone Batman movie starring Ben Affleck and films based on such Justice League characters as "The Flash", "Aquaman", and "Cyborg".

As of this writing, Warner Bros. has not yet released an official statement in regard to Berg and Johns' new roles with the studio.
