April 24, 2015: Superman Celebration Announces First Round of Celebrity Guests
The Superman Celebration is pleased to announce the first round of Celebrity Guests for the 37th annual festival to be held June 11-14 in Metropolis, IL.
Special Guest, Caity Lotz appears on the award-winning CW TV series "Arrow" as the character "Sara Lance a.k.a The Canary". Lotz started her career as a dancer, touring with Avril Lavigne and Lady Gaga and starring in music videos, including Lady Gaga's. In 2005, Lotz joined the girl group, "Soccx". In 2006, the group released their debut single, "From Dusk Till Dawn (Get The Party Started)", which was followed up in 2007 by the single, "Scream Out Loud", both of which reached the top 10 in Germany. Their debut album, "Hold On", was also released in 2007 and their third single, "Can't Take My Eyes Off You", was released in 2008. Lotz began her acting career in 2006 with a small role in the cheerleading film, Bring It On: All or Nothing. She followed that up in 2010 with a part in Law & Order: LA: Harbor City and a recurring role in the fourth season of the AMC drama, Mad Men (2007), as "Stephanie", Anna Draper's niece. In 2011, Lotz starred as "Officer Kirsten Landry", one of the main characters in the MTV horror/black comedy/mockumentary series, Death Valley. Lotz performs all her own stunts on the show.
Caity will be appearing on Saturday, June 13th at the Celebrity Autograph Sessions at the Baymont Theatre. An autograph session ticket will be required to meet this guest.
Making her first trip to Metropolis will be Stacy Haiduk, who starred in the role of "Lana Lang" on the series Superboy, which ran from 1988-1992. During her stint on Superboy, she continued to act outside of the show, performing in movies and a guest role on Parker Lewis Can’t Lose. After the cancellation of Superboy, she portrayed FBI agent-in-training "Rhea McPherson" in the short-lived drama, Round Table. In 1993, she landed the role of "Lt. Katie Hitchcock" on Seaquest DSV.
Further acting roles followed, including movies such as Danielle Steel’s A Perfect Stranger and guest appearances on shows such as Due South. She also portrayed the seductive "Lilly Langtry" on the cult-favorite show, Kindred: The Embrace. Many more movies, as well as guest appearances on shows such as Melrose Place, E.R., The X-Files, The Profiler, NCIS and CSI: Miami have followed, demonstrating her depth and range as an actress.
Also appearing this year is Diane Sherry Case who is best known for her role of "Lana Lang" in Superman: The Movie. She also appeared in Hawaii (1966) and Pretty Maids All in a Row (1971). She played Bing Crosby's daughter in the TV series The Bing Crosby Show and appeared in numerous other series as well as two Super Bowl commercials. More recently, Diane has published numerous short stories and authored two novels, "Elephant Milk" and "Earth To Skye". With a grant from the American Film Institute, she wrote and directed two short films, Spa-tel and Valentine's Day.
Haiduk and Case will be available to meet the fans on Friday, June 12th and Saturday, June 13th at the Autograph Zone. No tickets are required to meet either guest.
