"The Art of the Brick: DC Super Heroes" on Display in Rome

by Neil Cole

The contemporary art exhibition "Art of the Brick: DC Super Heroes" is currently on display at the Palazzo degli Esami located in the Trastevere neighborhood of Rome, Italy.

Together with Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment, the well-known and celebrated artist Nathan Sawaya has created the world's largest collection of artwork inspired by DC's Justice League, including Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, alongside DC Super-Villains the Joker, Harley Quinn and more.

"As a child I spent entire Sunday morning on the floor playing with LEGOs while watching DC Super Friends cartoons," states Sawaya. "I thought the characters in my LEGO cities had super powers to defeat their enemies - which I usually identified with my sister's dolls. For me, therefore, this new exhibition is a dream come true: it is an honor to have been able to re-imagine these characters and their stories."

The Palazzo degli Esami has been transformed into a 2000 square meter Gotham City in the heart of Rome, where visitors can immerse themselves in the incredible atmosphere created by Sawaya which, using only the standard LEGO bricks, has created more than 120 original works, including a life-sized Batmobile built with half a million pieces.

"The Art of the Brick: DC Super Heroes" exhibit will continue to be on display through August 8, 2018. For more information, please click here.
