Following the recent premiere of "Batman: Gotham by Gaslight" at the DC in D.C. event, animation legend Bruce Timm revealed during a Q&A session that he is eyeing the classic "Superman: Red Son" storyline as his next animation project.
"Superman: Red Son" delved into the premise of "what if Superman had been raised in the Soviet Union?" as opposed to Smallville, Kansas and spanned the years of 1953-2001 mixing alternate versions of DC super-heroes with alternate-reality versions of real political figures such as Joseph Stalin and John F. Kennedy.
Timm stated that the likelihood of an animated movie based on "Superman: Red Son" becoming reality is heavily dependent on how successful "Batman: Gotham by Gaslight" is received. Should the Victorian Era story featuring the Dark Knight do well, Timm is hoping Warner Bros. will agree to a Red Son animated film.
"Batman: Gotham By Gaslight" premieres on digital on January 23rd and Blu-ray/DVD on February 6th.
