December 8, 2014: "Krypton" Origin Series Coming to SyFy Channel

"Man of Steel" scribe David S. Goyer is currently developing a Superman origin story for the SyFy Channel which will be entitled "Krypton."

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news earlier today on the upcoming series which will take place on the Man of Steel's homeworld during the days of Superman's grandfather. Here's an excerpt:

From Warner Horizon Television and DC Comics, Krypton takes place years before the Superman legend we know, when the House of El was shamed and ostracized. This drama, which is in development, follows the Man of Steel's grandfather as he brings hope and equality to Krypton, turning a planet in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest Super Hero ever known.

Ian Goldberg (Once Upon a Time, FlashForward) will pen the script and exec produce alongside Goyer. The story was conceived by both Goyer and Goldberg.

"Krypton" will be the latest series based on a DC Comics character currently airing on television including "Gotham" (FOX), "The Flash" (CW Network), "Arrow" (CW Network), and "Constantine" (NBC).

A TV series based on "Supergirl" is also currently in development and will star actress Claire Holt in the lead role.
