After reading the many ads and promotions for the Superman Snuggie, I finally broke down and purchased one from a local retailer in Myrtle Beach, SC.
First off, I realize that some would argue that a Superman Snuggie is a contradiction in terms. After all, the Man of Steel would never have Cheeto stains on his uniform or pockets for a remote control. However, this product is more of an image of Superman printed on a throw as opposed to an actual costume.
Moving on, please be aware that it is not actually a "Snuggie" but what DC Comics likes to refer to as a "Comfy Throw". In DC's own words it's "a body-length blanket with sleeves made of fleece material; similar in design to a bathrobe that is worn backwards". Yes, that is the definition of a "Snuggie" but it's also the definition of the less popular "Slanket"...
The "Comfy Throw" measures in at the "one size fits all" dimensions of 48" x 71" which fits my 6' 5" frame perfectly.
After my purchase, I never had any intention of actually wearing it but instead add it my collection of Superman memorabilia. However, after crashing in front of the tv and seeing the Superman on the box staring me down from across the room; it didn't take long for my intentions of keeping the throw as a collectible item to be tossed out the window.
Now that we are in the midst of some cold pre-winter nights, the comfy throw actually does come in quite handy! In fact, on a recent 38 degree evening, it was no problem to keep toasty warm while watching some "WWE Raw" and "Family Guy".
Although the "Superman Comfy Throw" is currently sold out at the retailer I picked mine up from; the Super Museum in Metropolis, Illinois has them in stock! You can order your very own for just $29.95 through their on-line store at SupermanSuperStore.com/comfythrow.html.
And don't think for a minute that DC Comics have overlooked the female fans out there. There is also a Wonder Woman "Comfy Throw" available from such retailers as Spencer Gifts and Amazon.com.
So I ask all you fans out there, Superman Snuggie... do you have yours yet?
