Original George Reeves Superman Costume Available at Auction

An original Superman costume worn by George Reeves on the classic 1950's "Adventures of Superman" television series will be featured at the upcoming "Out of This World!" auction presented by Turner Classic Movies (TCM) and Bonhams International Auction House.

Superman, Inc. 1952-1958. Smoky blue wool long-sleeved leotard with a stitched-on red and yellow felt Superman "S" logo on the center chest, bearing an interior "Western Costume Co." label inscribed "No. 99-2471-1 / Name: George Reeves / Chest: 44," with a red silk cape attached to the collar of the tunic and a similarly stitched felt Superman "S" logo on the cape, with matching form-fitting stirrup pants and a pair of red trunks.

Accompanied by a color photograph of George Reeves wearing the costume.

Provenance:
Gift of DC Comics to Robert Westerfield; sold by him to another; acquired by the present owner.

The vintage Superman costume is expected to sell for $100,000 - $150,000 (USD) and is currently available for pre-auction bidding at Bonhams.com.

The "Out of This World!" auction takes place on Tuesday, November 21st at the Bonhams East Coast salesroom located at 580 Madison Avenue in New York City.
