August 14, 2014: "Adventures of Superman" Plaque Installed in Tarzana, CA

The "Adventures of Superman" plaque commemorating the 100th birthday of "Adventures of Superman" star George Reeves, Superman co-creators Jerome Siegel and Joseph Shuster and over 60 years of the hit TV series has been installed in Tarzana, CA.
The site of the plaque - 5400 Wilber Avenue - was chosen as it was used in 1953 for a location shoot for the "Adventures of Superman" episode, "The Man Who Could Read Minds". It was the only time during the series that a location shoot would feature all principal characters of the show; Clark Kent (George Reeves), Perry White (John Hamilton), Lois Lane (Noel Neill), Jimmy Olsen (Jack Larson) and Inspector Bill Henderson (Robert Shayne).
The plaque, which will be officially dedicated at 9:00AM on August 16th, was the brainchild of Armand Vaquer, author of "The Monster Movie Fan's Guide To Japan."
"I arrived at 5400 Wilbur Ave. in Tarzana around 8:40 in the morning and found the whole block along Wilbur Ave. occupied for a location shoot by Paramount Pictures," stated Vaquer in regard to installing the plaque. "Fortunately, Chris and Jenna, the owners of the house where the plaque is located, advised the Paramount security people of our work. We had no problem, in fact, many of the crew came by to 'oooh' and 'ahhh' the plaque.
It was interesting to the Paramount crew that they'd be working on a location shoot, about 5-8 doors north of where we were, as we were placing a plaque commemorating another location shoot that took place 61 years ago on that street."
Attending the dedication will be Jack Larson, Beverly Washburn, Laura Siegel Larson and Stephanie Shayne Parkin.
The ceremony is open to the public.
