Posted by Neil Cole

Following this past weekend's release of "Suicide Squad" which touches on the Man of Steel's death in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice", comes word that Warner Bros. is currently at work on a direct sequel to the film that kicked off the entire DC cinematic universe, "Man of Steel".

According to a new report from The Wrap, the studio is actively developing "Man of Steel 2" which makes the film the latest entry in the DC cinematic universe since the initial slate of planned films was announced back in 2014.

While any further details about the planned sequel are currently unknown, the report states that sources familiar with the project have indicated that it is a "top priority" for the studio as well as "getting the character right for audiences."

A release date for the film has not yet been announced but The Wrap indicates it would premiere sometime after the announced solo-Batman movie which will star and be directed by Ben Affleck.

Over the next two years, Warner Bros. will release four new films set within the DC cinematic universe including Wonder Woman (June 2, 2017), Justice League (November 17, 2017), Aquaman (July 27, 2018), and The Flash (March 16, 2018).
