To further hype the upcoming release of "Justice League", fans can now become a member of the iconic team using five new Facebook camera effects released by Warner Bros. using "mainstream augmented reality".
By opening the Facebook camera, tapping the magic wand icon to open the camera effects tray, and tapping the "mask" category, users can turn themselves into Aquaman, Batman, Cyborg, The Flash, and Wonder Woman.
The facial recognition technology also applies special effects designed to reflect each character's superpowers when users raise or wiggle their eyebrows in the live camera view.
To achieve the highest quality possible, Warner Bros. worked with actual movie CG assets optimized to run in the camera and is the first film studio to design and develop major motion picture camera effects using AR Studio and the Camera Effects Platform.
At this time, the AR Studio is still in a closed beta version that only allows approved developers access to the code in order to design their own effects. However, Facebook states that the "Justice League" superhero masks are just the beginning for the new AR features.
