An original Superman muscle tunic worn on screen by actor Christopher Reeve during filming of "Superman: The Movie" is currently available for purchase from Nate D Sanders Auctions for $100,000.
The signature blue tunic features the iconic Superman "S" shield sewn onto the front and was used in flight scenes in the 1978 blockbuster film. Two stitched holes on the sides were used to attach the flying harness and four snaps at the top were for attaching the cape.
Made of special nylon fabric which was used for its stretch quality and ability to retain its original shape, the tunic measures 18" across the chest and 29" long.
The original "Bermans & Nathans" London-based costume house tag is still intact on the tunic's inner back collar, next to the zipper, with the label reading in type: "CHRISTOPHER REEVE / 12312 WITH MUSCLES / SUPERMAN".
With the exception of a few small holes, the tunic is in near fine condition and includes a Certificate of Authenticity from the Propstore of London.
