Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment (WBDHE) has confirmed that replacement 4K UHD discs will be made available for the 2023 "Superman: 5-Film Collection", correcting a number of audio and video issues reported by fans.
According to Bill Hunt of The Digital Bits, the corrected discs are not yet shipping, but customers can email WHV@wbd.com to request replacements once they become available. Proof of purchase - such as a photo of your existing set - is recommended.
Key Fixes in the Updated Discs Include:
• "Superman: The Movie" (1978) - Now includes both the original 6-track and 2.0 audio in lossless DTS-HD MA, alongside the Atmos mix. The video glitch affecting Christopher Reeve's on-screen credit has been removed.
• "Superman II (1980) - Improved Atmos mix corrects “wow” and pitch issues from the 2023 disc.
• "Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut" (2006) - Corrected geometry on the film’s final shot of Superman smiling at the camera, which had been horizontally squished.
• "Superman IV: The Quest for Peace" (1987) - Updated Atmos mix replaces incorrect alternate musical performance cues used previously.
(Note: "Superman III" remains unchanged from its prior 4K UHD release.)
The newly-authored discs will also be included in the upcoming Amazon-exclusive "Superman: 5-Film Collection" 4K Ultra HD box set, scheduled for release September 2, 2025. The set is currently available for pre-order, though availability may fluctuate.
Fans who purchased the 2023 4K UHD Superman box set or standalone discs should email WHV@wbd.com with proof of purchase to receive the updated editions once they ship.
