Unboxing the New Upper Deck 'Inspirations: The World of DC' Trading Card Collection

Upper Deck recently provided the Superman Super Site with a review sample box of its new 'Inspirations: The World of DC' Trading Card collection. Created in partnership with DC, the premium release celebrates the artwork, characters and memorable comic book covers that have helped define the DC Universe for generations. Opening the box reveals an impressive assortment of cards featuring heroes and villains from throughout DC history, including Superman, Supergirl, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern and many more.

At the heart of the collection is a 90-card base set complemented by an extensive assortment of parallels and specialty cards. Collectors can uncover colorful and serial-numbered variations including Bronze Spectrum cards numbered to 199, Patterned Foil Gold Spectrum cards numbered to 49 and exceptionally scarce Matte Foil Blue Spectrum cards numbered to just five. Each hobby box also delivers, on average, three cards from the Homage Art, Trick or Treat, Artist Spotlight or Artist Spotlight Horizontal collections, along with one Matte Foil card and one Pearlescence parallel.

One of the highlights of 'Inspirations: The World of DC' is its emphasis on the artists and artwork behind DC's legendary characters. Homage Art cards showcase artwork inspired by iconic comic book covers, while Artist Spotlight cards place the work of celebrated DC artists front and center. Collectors can also hunt for the whimsical Trick or Treat cards as well as some of the collection's most desirable hits, including Creator Autograph cards, Original Art Sketch cards and ultra-rare one-of-one Printing Plates and Blue Spectrum cards.

With its combination of familiar DC characters, classic comic book imagery, premium finishes and an impressive variety of chase cards, 'Inspirations: The World of DC' offers plenty to discover with every pack. For Superman collectors in particular, seeing the Man of Steel and other members of the Superman family alongside characters from throughout the larger DC Universe makes opening a box an entertaining journey through decades of comic book history.
