“Superman: The Movie” (1978)

The Texarkana Symphony Orchestra will bring the 1978 classic “Superman: The Movie” back to the big screen in 2027 with a live orchestral performance of John Williams’ celebrated score at the historic Perot Theatre.

“Superman in Concert,” the orchestra’s second pops program of its 2026-27 season, is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 6, 2027, at 7 p.m. The presentation will feature the full film projected on screen while the Texarkana Symphony Orchestra performs Williams’ original score live in synchronization with the picture.

Directed by Richard Donner, “Superman: The Movie” stars Christopher Reeve in the role that established him as the definitive cinematic Man of Steel for generations of moviegoers. The film follows Superman from his escape as an infant from the doomed planet Krypton through his upbringing in Smallville and eventual arrival in Metropolis, where he assumes the dual identities of reporter Clark Kent and Superman.

Williams’ score, highlighted by the instantly recognizable “Superman March,” has become one of the most enduring musical works associated with the character. The concert presentation gives audiences an opportunity to experience the film with the music performed by a full symphony orchestra as the movie plays above the stage.

The performance will take place at the Perot Theatre, 221 Main St. in Texarkana, Texas. Originally constructed in 1924 as the Saenger “Gateway to the Southwest” Theatre, the venue was restored and reopened as the Perot Theatre in 1980 and now serves as the primary performance home of the Texarkana Symphony Orchestra.
