"Superman: The Movie" & "Superman: II" Double Feature in Suffolk, England

The Ipswich Film Theatre in the Suffolk county town of Ipswich, England will present a 35mm double feature screening of "Superman: The Movie" and "Superman: II" on Saturday, August 21st beginning at 6:30PM.

In the 1978 blockbuster film, just before the destruction of the planet Krypton, scientist Jor-El (Marlon Brando) sends his infant son Kal-El on a spaceship to Earth. Raised by kindly farmers Jonathan (Glenn Ford) and Martha Kent (Phyllis Thaxter), young Clark (Christopher Reeve) discovers the source of his superhuman powers and moves to Metropolis to fight evil. As Superman, he battles the villainous Lex Luthor (Gene Hackman), while, as novice reporter Clark Kent, he attempts to woo co-worker Lois Lane (Margot Kidder).

"Superman: II" sees the Man of Steel sacrificing his powers to start a relationship with Lois Lane, unaware that three Kryptonian criminals - General Zod (Terence Stamp), Ursa (Sarah Douglas), and Non (Jack O'Halloran) - he inadvertently released from the Phantom Zone are in the process of attempting to conquer the planet.

The double feature screening is part the theater's tribute to acclaimed genre film director Richard Donner who recently passed away on July 5th, 2021 at the age of 91.
