'Superman: The Cleveland Connection' Exhibit Opens at Cleveland Convention Center

A new exhibit celebrating Cleveland's role in the creation of Superman has opened at the Huntington Convention Center, highlighting the city's connection to one of the world's most enduring comic book icons and the creators who first brought the character to life.
Titled Superman: The Cleveland Connection, the exhibit was developed through a partnership between the Siegel & Shuster Society and the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland. The installation traces the Man of Steel's origins to Cleveland, where writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster created Superman before his debut in Action Comics No. 1 in 1938, a milestone widely credited with launching the modern superhero era.
The exhibit's opening installation features enlarged reproductions of iconic Superman comic book covers, including the character's first appearance, along with artwork from creators with Cleveland ties. Organizers said additional displays and interpretive panels will be added in future phases to further explore the city's influence on Superman's history and the broader comic book industry.
The exhibit is open to visitors during regular operating hours at the downtown convention center, offering fans and history enthusiasts a new opportunity to explore Cleveland's lasting contribution to American popular culture.
