Superman Statue Fitted with Mask in Honor of Healthcare Workers

The 15-foot-tall Superman Statue in Metropolis, IL, has been fitted with a giant mask in honor of all the healthcare workers and first responders on the frontlines of coronavirus pandemic.

The mask was created by local Metropolis resident Deneal Welch Bullock and was placed earlier today on the world-famous bronze statue which stands watch over Superman Square in the center of town.

The statue has been a hot spot for photo-ops in the Metropolis downtown district since being unveiled on June 5th, 1993 preceding the town's 15th Annual Superman Celebration.
