A new report from DC Film News reveals that the highly anticipated Superman movie will run 122 minutes, making it one of the shorter entries in the character's cinematic history.
According to the outlet, international distributors have just received the update, sparking discussion among fans and industry watchers alike. If confirmed, the film would be just two minutes longer than Justice League (2017), which clocked in at 120 minutes.
Compared to previous Superman films, the new runtime reflects a more streamlined approach:
• Superman: The Movie (1978): 143 minutes
• Superman II (1980): 127 minutes
• Superman III (1983): 125 minutes
• Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987): 90 minutes
• Superman Returns (2006): 154 minutes
• Man of Steel (2013): 143 minutes
• Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016): 152 minutes
With the new film aiming to reintroduce the Man of Steel to a new generation, a 122-minute runtime could signal a tighter, more focused narrative - a deliberate contrast to the longer, more sprawling superhero films of recent years. Neither Warner Bros. or DC Studios have yet to confirm the runtime officially, but this distributor update suggests that the final cut may be locked. As excitement continues to build, fans can expect more details soon as marketing gears up for launch.
"Superman" flies into theaters nationwide on July 11th, 2025.
