An assortment of movie memorabilia from various Superman films will be up for bids in the Julien's Auctions upcoming 'Icons and Idols: Hollywood' Auction which takes place December 17th, 2022 beginning at 10:00AM (PST).

Among the items featured are:

VALERIE PERRINE "EVE TESCHMACHER" FILM-WORN RED HALTER DRESS

A Bermans and Nathans bright red halter dress screen-worn by Valerie Perrine in her portrayal of Miss Eve Teschmacher in the film Superman (Dovemead Ltd., 1978).

As indicated by the tag on the inside of the dress, this dress was to be used in the scene of the film where Gene Hackman (Lex Luther) and Eve Teschmacher are attempting to infiltrate a United States Army and United States Navy missile test. While Eve was lying on the ground, pretending to be hurt after being in a car accident, Lex Luther reprograms two missiles as Eve distracts the soldiers. In an iconic scene with soldiers standing over her, this dress can be seen worn by the actress.

A Bermans and Nathans tag stitched in the dress reads, "Valerie Perrine./ 12339. Superman./ Lying on Ground."

This dress is accompanied by an August 1981 issue of Playboy Magazine signed by Valerie Perrine featuring her on the cover dressed as a parody of Superman/ Clark Kent, a glossy color poster showing Valerie wearing the red dress during production of the film and a retractable banner with stand used by Valerie while signing at events.

This will mark the first time the iconic red dress has been offered in the United States.

Includes a DVD of the film and a DVD of Stacey Souther's 2019 documentary Valerie, signed by Souther.

Auction Estimate US$6,000 - $8,000

"SUPERMAN - FLYBY": BIZARRO-SUPERMAN MAQUETTE

A "Bizarro-Superman" character concept maquette measuring 24 x 10 inches from the unmade film "Superman: Flyby", a movie that was pitched to Warner Bros. by director J.J. Abrams in 2002.

The film was an origin story that included Krypton besieged by a civil war between Jor-El and his corrupt brother, Kata-Zor. Before Kata-Zor sentences Jor-El to prison, Kal-El is launched to Earth to fulfill a prophecy. Adopted by Jonathan and Martha Kent, he forms a romance with Lois Lane in the Daily Planet. However, Lois is more concerned with exposing Lex Luthor, written as a government agent obsessed with UFO phenomena.

Clark reveals himself to the world as Superman, bringing Kata-Zor's son, Ty-Zor, and three other Kryptonians to Earth. Superman is defeated and killed, and visits Jor-El (who committed suicide on Krypton while in prison) in Kryptonian heaven. Resurrected, he returns to Earth and defeats the four Kryptonians, while the script ends with Superman off to Krypton, leaving a cliffhanger for a sequel.

Auction Estimate US$500 - $700

CHRISTOPHER REEVE "SUPERMAN" CAPE FLYING EFFECT DEVICE

A cape flying effect device used by Christopher Reeve in his portrayal of Superman in the production of the film Superman (Dovemead Ltd., 1978).

This device would be attached to unique Superman capes that were used particularly for flying scenes. The metal rods of this device would be attached to custom-built fasteners and pouches built into the inner lining of the cape. This type of device would have been primarily used for both studio blue screen traveling matte wire flying and studio ZOPTIC front projection flying.

The device features four snap fasteners set on a deep red metal bracket, connecting to four flexible wires that would secure in pouches on the cape. The four flexible wires are additionally secured by an aluminum bracket. The reverse side of the main bracket features the name "C. Reeve" in black ink.

Includes a DVD of the film.
