The Metro Cinema Society in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada will present a special screening of "Superman II - The Richard Donner Cut" on Saturday, August 29th, at 12:45 p.m. The screening will take place at the the historic Garneau Theatre and offer audiences an opportunity to experience director Richard Donner’s distinctive vision for the landmark Superman sequel on the big screen.
Released in 2006, "Superman II - The Richard Donner Cut" represents Donner’s original creative vision for the 1980 sequel, which underwent significant changes after he was replaced during production by director Richard Lester. The restored version incorporates previously unused footage, alternate performances and other material from Donner’s work on the film, creating a version that more closely reflects his intended approach to the story.
Christopher Reeve returns as Superman, alongside Margot Kidder as Lois Lane, Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor and Terence Stamp as General Zod. The film follows Superman as he confronts three Kryptonian criminals — General Zod, Ursa and Non — while navigating his relationship with Lois Lane and the possibility of surrendering his powers to live a normal life.
The Metro Cinema Society’s presentation is part of its Reel Family Cinema series, which showcases family-friendly films for audiences of all ages. Children ages 12 and under are admitted free, with supervision required. For additional information or to purchase tickets, please visit MetroCinema.org.
