"Superman: II" Actor Marcus D'Amico Passes Away at Age 55

British actor Marcus D'Amico who portrayed the role of the young boy "Willie" in "Superman: II" has passed away from pneumonia at the age of 55.

His memorable scene in the film takes place in the fictional town of East Houston, Idaho where he begs General Zod to put his shotgun wielding father, Jody down after the Kryptonian villain levitates him into the air.

D'Amico was born on December 4th, 1965 in Frankfurt, Germany and was raised in the United Kingdom. During his lengthy career, he earned an Olivier Award nomination for best actor for his role as Louis in the National Theatre's 1992 production of "Angels in America" followed by a Theatre World award for the 1994-95 revival of "An Inspector Calls".

His best known role was as Michael "Mouse" Tolliver in the 1993 "Tales of the City" miniseries. In addition to his role in "Superman: II", D'Amico also appeared in director Stanley Kubrick's "Full Metal Jacket" and had guest-starring roles in such British television sereis as "Jeeves & Wooster," "As Time Goes By," and "Murder Most Horrid". Other appearances included the UK police drama "The Bill" and a recurring role in the UK soap opera, "Family Affairs".

D'Amico is survived by his mother, Patricia; his sisters Melissa and Lindy; his half-brother Michael; his daughter Sapphire; and his son Chiron.
