"Superman" (2025) Earns Six Critics Choice Super Awards Nominations

"Superman" (2025) has soared into the Critics Choice Association’s 6th Annual Critics Choice Super Awards with six nominations, earning recognition across major superhero and acting categories as the organization announced its nominees Wednesday. The DC Studios feature received a nomination for Best Superhero Movie, while its cast was honored with multiple individual acting nominations for their portrayals of iconic DC characters.
Leading the film’s recognition is David Corenswet, who earned a nomination for Best Actor in a Superhero Movie for his portrayal of Clark Kent/Superman. The nomination marks a major milestone for Corenswet’s debut as the legendary DC Comics hero in the first feature film of the new DC Universe, directed by James Gunn.
The film’s ensemble also received additional recognition, with Edi Gathegi nominated for Best Actor in a Superhero Movie for his performance as Michael Holt/Mister Terrific and Nicholas Hoult receiving two nominations — one for Best Actor in a Superhero Movie for his role as Lex Luthor and another for Best Villain in a Movie. Rachel Brosnahan was nominated for Best Actress in a Superhero Movie for her performance as Lois Lane.
Released in 2025, "Superman" introduced audiences to a new interpretation of the Man of Steel while launching a new era for DC Studios. The film features Corenswet as Superman, Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Hoult as Lex Luthor, and Gathegi as Mister Terrific, alongside an ensemble cast bringing together some of DC’s most recognizable heroes and villains.
The Critics Choice Super Awards, presented by the Critics Choice Association, celebrate achievements in superhero, science fiction/fantasy, horror, and action films and television. The winners of the 6th Annual Critics Choice Super Awards are scheduled to be announced August 6, 2026.
