“Supergirl” Sets HBO Max Streaming Debut for September 10th

Warner Bros. Discovery has announced that DC Studios’ “Supergirl” will make its streaming debut on HBO Max on Thursday, Sept. 10, followed by its HBO television premiere on Saturday, Sept. 12.

Directed by Craig Gillespie from a screenplay by Ana Nogueira, “Supergirl” stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, who previously made her DC Universe debut in 2025’s “Superman.” Inspired in part by Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s acclaimed “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” comic book series, the film follows Kara on an intergalactic journey alongside young Ruthye Marye Knoll that puts them on a collision course with the ruthless Krem of the Yellow Hills.

The film also stars Eve Ridley as Ruthye, Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem, Jason Momoa as intergalactic bounty hunter Lobo, David Krumholtz as Zor-El and Emily Beecham as Alura. David Corenswet reprises his role as Superman, further connecting the film to the expanding DC Universe overseen by DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Released theatrically in June, “Supergirl” marked the second feature film released under the DC Studios banner following “Superman.” The film expands the new DC Universe beyond Earth while exploring Kara’s dramatically different upbringing from that of her cousin, Kal-El, and the experiences that shaped her into a hero in her own right.
