The hit CW television series 'Supergirl' took home the award for "Best Superhero TV Series" at the recent 45th Annual Saturn Awards which took place at the historic Avalon Hollywood on Friday, September 13th.
The awards ceremony is presented annually by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films and honors the best in science fiction, fantasy, horror, and other genres belonging to genre fiction in film, television, home media releases, and local theatre productions.
'Supergirl' managed to beat out such other CW shows as 'Arrow,' 'The Flash,' 'DC's Legends of Tomorrow', and 'Black Lightning' to win the award marking the second time the series has been named "Best Superhero Television Series".
Series star Melissa Benoist - who won a Saturn Award in 2016 in the category of "Breakthrough Performance" - accepted the award on stage alongside showrunners Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner.
The fifth season of 'Supergirl' is scheduled to premiere on The CW on Sunday, October 6th.
