Pruitt Taylor Vince Cast as Jonathan Kent in "Superman"

According to a new report from Deadline, actor Pruitt Taylor Vince has been cast in the role of Clark Kent's adoptive father. Jonathan Kent, in director James Gunn's "Superman" movie.

Taylor Vince has been featured in such projects as the upcoming AppleTV+ series, "Lady in the Lake", "True Blood", "The Walking Dead", "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD", "Stranger Things", and "Birdbox".

He is the latest actor to star as the iconic DC Comics character who has previously been portrayed by Glenn Ford ("Superman The Movie"), Stuart Whitman (The Adventures of Superboy"), Eddie Jones ("Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman"), John Schneider ("Smallville"), and Kevin Costner ("Man of Steel").

"Superman" tells the story of Superman's journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.

In addition to Taylor Vince, the film stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Terence Rosemore as Otis, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, María Gabriela De Faría as The Engineer, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, and model Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher.

"Superman" is currently scheduled to premiere in theaters on July 11th, 2025.
