Propstore Offering Rare Superman Movie Posters in Fall Auctions
Propstore is set to offer a selection of rare Superman movie posters and promotional material spanning nearly six decades of the Man of Steel's live-action screen history as part of its Fall 2026 collectible poster auctions in Los Angeles.
The four lots range from a one-sheet created for the 1948 Superman serial starring Kirk Alyn to a cast- and crew-signed poster for 2006's Superman Returns. Also included are a complete set of eight lobby cards from Superman and the Mole Men and a scarce Mylar advance one-sheet produced for the 1978 Superman starring Christopher Reeve.
Three of the Superman lots are scheduled for Propstore's Collectible Posters Live Auction: Los Angeles Fall 2026 on Friday, Oct. 9, beginning at 9:30 a.m. PDT. The 1978 Mylar poster is part of the company's accompanying online auction and is scheduled to close Sunday, Oct. 11.
“Superman” (1948) — Chapter 13 “Hurled to Destruction!” One-Sheet
One of the earliest pieces in the group is a 27-by-41-inch one-sheet for Chapter 13, “Hurled to Destruction!,” from Columbia Pictures' 1948 Superman serial. Featuring illustrated and photographic imagery of Kirk Alyn as Superman, the poster has been professionally linen-backed and received restoration addressing fold wear, crossfold separation and other age-related imperfections. Propstore has graded the poster Fine+ on linen and placed an estimate of $1,500 to $3,000 on the lot.
“Superman and the Mole Men” (1951) — Complete Lobby Card Set
A complete set of eight 11-by-14-inch lobby cards from Superman and the Mole Men is also headed to the auction block. The 1951 feature starred George Reeves as Superman and Phyllis Coates as Lois Lane and served as the theatrical pilot for Adventures of Superman. Propstore describes the unrestored set as Fine+, noting that the cards may exhibit pinholes, border wear, small creases, smudges and handling imperfections. The set carries an estimate of $2,000 to $4,000.
“Superman Returns” (2006) — Cast- and Crew-Signed One-Sheet
Representing Superman's 21st-century return to theaters is a rolled 27-by-40-inch Superman Returns one-sheet signed by Brandon Routh, Kate Bosworth, Kevin Spacey, Bryan Singer, Sam Huntington and Parker Posey. The six signatures are accompanied by a JSA certificate of authenticity. Propstore has graded the poster Very Fine+ and notes only light crimping along the lower portion of the right edge. The lot is estimated at $1,200 to $2,400.
“Superman” (1978) — Mylar Advance One-Sheet
Among the most distinctive pieces is a 25.25-by-39.75-inch Mylar advance one-sheet issued ahead of the December 1978 premiere of Superman. The reflective teaser design features the familiar Superman shield and “Coming This Christmas” campaign artwork. Propstore describes the rolled poster as Very Fine-, with mild edge wear, small creases, nicks and scattered handling marks consistent with the fragile Mylar stock. The poster carries an estimate of $200 to $400 and bidding is scheduled to conclude Oct. 11.
