Neva Howell Cast as Martha Kent in James Gunn's "Superman"

Actress Neva Howell has been cast in the role of Clark Kent's adoptive mather, Martha Kent, in director James Gunn's "Superman" movie and is the latest addition to the cast following the news yesterday of actor Pruitt Taylor Vince being cast as Jonathan Kent.
Howell has been featured in such projects as the science fiction web series "Beckinfield", "The Edge of Sanity", "Mercy Street", "Outcast", "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul", and "The Resident".
She is the latest actor to star as the iconic DC Comics character who has previously been portrayed by Phyllis Thaxter ("Superman The Movie"), Salome Jens (The Adventures of Superboy"), K Callan ("Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman"), Annette O'Toole ("Smallville"), Eva Marie Saint ("Superman Returns"), and Diane Lane ("Man of Steel").
"Superman" tells the story of Superman's journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.
In addition to Howell, the film stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Terence Rosemore as Otis, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, María Gabriela De Faría as The Engineer, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, and Pruitt Taylor Vince as Jonathan Kent.
"Superman" is currently scheduled to premiere in theaters on July 11th, 2025.
