NECA is expanding its lineup of Superman collectibles with the upcoming Superman (1978 Film) 8-Inch Clothed Action Figure, a new release inspired by Christopher Reeve's iconic portrayal of the Man of Steel in Richard Donner's landmark 1978 film. Designed to evoke the classic licensed action figures of the late 1970s while incorporating modern detailing, the collectible pays tribute to one of the most enduring interpretations of Superman in film history.
From the classic 1978 film starring Christopher Reeve, NECA presents this 8-inch clothed Superman action figure. After being sent from the planet Krypton to Earth by his father, Superman (Kal-El) is found and raised by a kind couple. He soon discovers his superhuman powers and uses them to fight evil in Metropolis while maintaining his secret identity as reporter Clark Kent.
The Superman figure is dressed in tailored, soft goods clothing similar to the retro toy lines that helped define the licensed action figure market in the 1970s. Wearing his iconic cape, the Man of Steel comes with interchangeable flying hands, fisted hands, and a NECA flight stand for placing him in dynamic flying poses. The figure is packaged in collector-friendly window box packaging, combining vintage-inspired presentation with display-ready appeal for today's collectors.
The Superman (1978 Film) 8-Inch Clothed Action Figure is available for pre-order now through the NECA Online Store for US$39.99 and is expected to ship in January, 2027. The release joins NECA's growing catalog of DC Comics collectibles, offering fans and collectors another opportunity to celebrate Christopher Reeve's timeless portrayal of Superman with a figure that blends nostalgic styling with contemporary craftsmanship.
