Metropolis, IL 'Action Comics #1' Mural Fundraiser

Posted on November 9, 2022 by Neil Cole

A GoFundMe project has been launched by Super Museum curator Morgan Siebert for the installation of a new mural in Metropolis, IL featuring the iconic cover of "Action Comics #1".

"I've wanted to do this project for about 10 years," says Siebert. "I wanted to bring back a mural that my father had funded and helped install on a building on Ferry Street coming up from the Casino. Sadly, the building that it was on was hit by a tornado back in 2003."

The goal of the mural addition would be to bring a new attraction to beautify the downtown of Metropolis for photo ops and to help bring foot traffic to other businesses in the shopping district.

"Our community needs more themed attractions for Superman fans to enjoy when they come to the one and only 'Home of Superman', Siebert continues. "This mural could bridge walking traffic between the Superman and Noel Neill statues."

Proceeds from the GoFundMe project will be used to cover paint supplies and materials to install the mural which will be located on a side wall of downtown Metropolis business, Super City Antiques.
