“Man of Tomorrow”

Lars Eidinger is reflecting on his experience filming DC Studios’ upcoming “Man of Tomorrow,” describing the Hollywood production as unlike anything he has encountered while working in Germany or elsewhere in Europe.

The German actor, who will portray the Superman villain Brainiac in writer-director James Gunn’s follow-up to 2025’s “Superman,” discussed the production in comments reported Friday by the German Press Agency (dpa). Asked how working on a Hollywood film set compared with productions in Germany, Eidinger’s response was simple: “Everything.”

Eidinger humorously rejected the familiar saying that everyone “cooks with water,” instead remarking, “They cook with Pepsi.” He went on to describe the experience as an entirely different approach to filmmaking from what he had previously encountered in Germany and Europe.

The actor was particularly impressed by the atmosphere among the cast and crew. According to dpa’s report, Eidinger said he had never experienced the same degree of team spirit on a German-language or European production and characterized the American set as highly collaborative.

Eidinger also spoke positively about his interactions with the people working on the production, saying his experience challenged the perception that Americans can be superficial. He instead found his colleagues attentive and genuinely interested in the people around them.

His comments also indicate that his work on the production has concluded. Eidinger said returning to Germany after filming was difficult because the experience had been entirely positive and he was reluctant to see it come to an end.

Eidinger joins the DC Universe as Brainiac opposite David Corenswet’s Superman and Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor. Gunn has previously confirmed that Superman and Luthor will be forced into an uneasy alliance as they confront a greater threat in the upcoming film.

“Man of Tomorrow” is scheduled to arrive in theaters on July 9th, 2027.
