LEGO Superman 'S' Shield on Display in Metropolis, IL

NASA Aerospace Engineer, author, and fellow Superman fan Nicholas Mastramico (aka Nicholas Cara) announced a few months ago that he would be designing and building a full-scale sized LEGO Superman Shield matching the dimensions of the one featured on the world famous bronze statue of the Man of Steel in Metropolis, IL.

Mastramico just revealed that he has now completed the huge 30" x 15" shield which he personally delivered to the Metropolis, IL Chamber of Commerce office where it will continue to be on display leading up to the 42nd Annual Superman Celebration which takes place June 11th - 14th.

"It was a crazy idea I had one day that the city with the Street of Steel put their faith in me to do," states Mastramico. "I'm really glad I was able to see it past the finish line for them."

One lucky Superman fan will have the opportunity to win the shield when it is raffled off during the Superman Celebration with all proceeds benefiting the festival, Super Museum and Save the Massac Theatre Program.

"The details on how you can win this LEGO piece of Superman lore will be coming out once they are finalized by the Celebration committee," adds Mastramico. "The one thing I can tell you is I'll be there this year for the big reveal and a number of other SUPER/LEGO/NASA surprises!"
