"Justice League: Mortal" Documentary to Resume Production

A documentary covering the history of director George Miller's failed "Justice League: Mortal" film is set to resume production under the new title, "Seven Friends: George Miller's Justice League".

According to a press release from Purryburry Productions, work is expected to restart later this year on the much-delayed documentary which will feature interviews with cast and crew members as well as never-before-seen pre-production art, photography and video footage.

"After speaking with cast and crew on and off over the last 5 years, we are confident we have a wonderful project to bring to light for all pop culture fans around the globe," stated producer Ryan Unicomb. "It kind of feels like the world wasn't really ready for this the first time we tried to do this (2015). With everything going on in the world, now feels like the right time to look back at what may have been and celebrate what actually was."

Miller ("Mad Max", "Happy Feet") was in the process of developing "Justice League: Mortal" in 2007 with a script by Kieran and Michele Mulroney. The film was set to star D.J. Cotrona as Superman/Clark Kent, Armie Hammer as Batman, Adam Brody as Barry Allen/The Flash, rapper Common as John Stewart/Green Lantern, and Australian model Megan Gale as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman.

Warner Bros. ultimately shut down the project in 2008 citing a lack of tax breaks and the writer's strike as the main reasons it pulled the plug.

Joining Unicomb on the documentary as a co-producer will be his "B.Y.O. Show" co-host Jordan Bailey as well as graphic designer Kode "Bosslogic" Abdo who will create promotional art for the documentary and professional cosplayer Chris Stanley will recreate several screen accurate costumes that were originally designed for the film.

A fundraising campaign for "Seven Friends: George Miller's Justice League" is expected to launch this July.
