George Reeves Superman Costume Sells at Auction for $350K

An original Superman costume worn by George Reeves on the classic "Adventures of Superman" television series has sold at Heritage Auctions' "Hollywood & Entertainment Signature Auction" for $350,000.

The incomplete costume comes from the collection of real estate developer John Azarian and features a blue knit wool bodysuit, a yellow & red wool felt "S" shield, floor-length cape, red knit wool briefs, and a yellow leather belt with an oval brass buckle.

Experts estimate that the costume was featured in many of the later color episodes of the popular series which aired from 1954 - 1958.

Two other Superman costumes also sold during the auction including one worn by Kirk Alyn in the 1948/1950 Superman serials which sold for $81,250 and another worn by Christopher Reeve in "Superman IV: The Quest for Peace" which sold for $187,500.
