George Reeves' Final Hours to be Chronicled in Off-Broadway Play

A new Off-Broadway play titled "Ode to the Wasp Woman" will chronicle the final 48 hours of the lives of four actors from the Golden Age of Hollywood including "Adventures of Superman" star George Reeves.

On the evening of June 16, 1959, Reeves died of a gunshot wound to the head in the upstairs bedroom of his home at 1579 Benedict Canyon Drive. Although officially ruled a suicide, it has long been believed by many fans that Reeves' death was actually a homicide.

In addition to Reeves, the play will also cover the tragic final 48 hours of the lives of Barbara Payton (Holiday Carleton - "Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye"), Carl Switzer (Alfalfa - "The Little Rascals"), and Susan Cabot (Janice Starlin - "The Wasp Woman").

The role of Reeves will be portrayed by actor Douglas Everett Davis who has appeared in such television series as "FBI", "Gossip Girl", and "Bull". Actress Sean Young ("Blade Runner", "Dune") will star in the role of Cabot while the roles of Carleton and Switzer have yet to be announced.

"Ode to the Wasp Woman" will open at the The Actors Temple Theatre in New York City on Thursday, November 9th with an initial preview taking place on Monday, October 30th. For more information or to purchase tickets, please visit WaspWomanPlay.com.
