McFarlane Toys has revealed a first look at the upcoming Supergirl (Action Comics) McFarlane Collector Edition #59, bringing one of DC Comics' most historic character debuts to the collectible figure line. Inspired by the landmark introduction of Supergirl, the figure celebrates the heroine's classic comic book origins and her enduring place in DC lore.
The collectible draws inspiration from Action Comics #252, published in May 1959, which marked the first appearance of Kara Zor-El in DC Comics. Created by writer Otto Binder and artist Al Plastino, the character debuted in the story "The Supergirl from Krypton," where she arrives on Earth after escaping the destruction of Krypton and is revealed to be the cousin of Superman.
The story introduced Kara as a powerful Kryptonian heroine determined to follow in Superman's footsteps while carving out her own identity as a protector of Earth. Her debut quickly became a defining moment in DC Comics history, establishing Supergirl as one of the publisher’s most iconic and enduring characters.
The new McFarlane Collector Edition figure captures the classic comic book look inspired by Supergirl's earliest appearances, with detailed sculpting that reflects her Silver Age origins. Supergirl (Action Comics) McFarlane Collector Edition #59 is scheduled to launch for pre-order tomorrow (March 18th) at select retailers.
